Better Ball Format
The Selkirk Shootout is a BETTER BALL, STROKE PLAY EVENT, and will be the first of its kind for top level amateur golfers in Manitoba. It will be contested at the Selkirk Golf and Country Club on July 8th, 2023.
The Prairie Scratch Tour is excited to present a one-of-a-kind experience, the Under the Lights Horse Race, which will be held at sunset after the conclusion of play on July 8th. See below for more information.
Format
Better ball is a golf competition format where teams of two compete in either stroke or match play competitions. Both players on the team play their own ball, using the better of the two scores as the team score for each hole.
Tournament Information and Eligibility
The Selkirk Shootout is a 36 hole better ball event open to all members and non-members over the age of 14 years old with a handicap index of 5.9 or lower. THIS IS A NO HANDICAP SCRATCH EVENT. GROSS SCORE ONLY.
Registration
All players must register through the Golf Genius event portal (LINK). Registration will open on June 10th, 2023. Members will have until July 1st at 11:59pm CST to register. Non-members who register will remain on the pending list until member registration closes. Non-members will then be added to the field based on when they signed up until the field is full. Once you register, your credit card will only be charged once you have been moved off the PENDING list.

120 player max (stroke play, 2 player better ball, no handicaps)

Member Priority
Prairie Scratch Tour members will be given priority registration until July 1st. at 11:59pm. After this time non-members who have registered with payment will be admitted into the field if we are not already full with members.

Entry Fees
Member entry fee - $400 per team
Non-member entry fee - $500 per team
Entry Fee Includes:
- 36 holes
- Riding cart
- Range balls
- Tees
- On course refreshments (water and Cranked Energy protein bars)
- $5800 purse based on 120 player field
- $1500 paid out to the winning team ($750 Per Player)
- Top 5 teams and ties will be paid out
- An opportunity to win points in the season long race for the Art Johnston Trophy
- Live leaderboard and on course officiating
- Shotgun start
- Food and beverages following the first round will be available at a minimal fee
Under the Lights Horserace
After the opening round of Selkirk Shootout, the Prairie Scratch Tour is excited to present a unique golf experience never seen before in Manitoba.
How it works:
- Individual horse race on the 18th hole at Selkirk Golf and Country Club starting just after sunset (approximately 10:00PM)
- Tees ranging from 100-145 yards
- Open to all competitors playing in the Selkirk Shootout
- $20 per player to enter
- Winner receives a TaylorMade prize courtesy of Eric Johnson and TaylorMade Canada
All proceeds will go to directly to the Manitoba Mental Health Foundation
Art Johnston Points Race
Only Members of the Tour will recieve points towards the season long race for the Art Johnston Trophy.
Course Set-Up
Selkirk Golf and Country Club will have a championship setup, playing to approximately 6400 yards (blue tees).
Caddies
Players are allowed to bring their own caddie. We ask that all caddies wear soft sole or spikeless shoes.
Please be advised that caddies will be required to walk and will not be allowed to ride in their player's cart.
Practice Rounds
Practice rounds can be booked by calling the Selkirk Golf and Country Club pro shop at (204)-482-2050. Players must cover the expense of their own practice round.
